The Story

If you were to ask what really inspired her to pick up a brush and paint pictures, Singapore born artist Linda H L Gouw would probably describe a youth spent visiting British and European art galleries in pursuit of “culture” and a History of Art degree in London. “One day” she said “I realized I was a hands-on person, and a Chinese person at that. I wanted to paint pictures myself – in my way – through Chinese eyes”.

An avid traveller, Singapore artist Linda Gouw brings to her work the nostalgia and vulnerability of the long distance traveller – haunted by the joy and sadness of inevitable departure. It is not surprising, therefore, that there is an increasing interest from art lovers in the fresh and lively vision of her work., inspired by such diverse backgrounds as Indonesia, New Zealand, France, Great Britain and the USA. Private and corporate collectors in London, Paris, Jakarta and Singapore have bought her paintings.

Linda has been actively promoting artists from around the world at her Dragonwick Gallery in Singapore. Artists from Peru, Brazil, Japan, Australia, France, Canada, Spain, England, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China.
